CC Bio Make AstraZeneca StartUp Final Selection - 26/6/19

AstraZeneca hosted its second StartUP Science Competition for life science entrepreneurs in the Cambridge area today. The competition aims to highlight the great science and innovation taking place in the local Cambridge ecosystem and to help build the next generation of biotechs. It offers participants the opportunity to raise the profile of their company and to network with high-profile life sciences representatives and senior AstraZeneca executives.

The competition was fierce, and somewhat familiar with several companies recently winning the Accelerate@Babraham event present. Each company was given 4 minutes to cover concept, data, market, competition and business plan, and then grilled for an additional 6 minutes by a panel of AZ experts, and Cambridge Judge Business School buffs before a decision was made.

CC Bio, along with Reflection Therapeutics, Waterscope and Shift Biosciences made the cut and were accelerated to the Grand Final which will be held on the 3rd of July.

Shaun Grady, AstraZeneca Head of Business Development said:
The quality of competition was so high this year. We couldn’t settle on three companies to accelerate to the Grand Final, so we now have four!

The Grand Final will take place at the Cambridge Judge Business School on the 3rd of July.
